Certification of Health Sciences Educators in Simulation
Solo se requiere ser miembro activo de la SOMESICS o de alguna de las sociedad de simulación con las que hemos firmado convenios de colaboración para poder llevar acabo este proceso.
Están invitados todos los socios y amigos de la SOMESICS a participar.
BENEFITS
The benefits we seek by promoting SOMESICS members to become certified as: C ertified Health Sciences Educator in Simulation ( ECSCS ) are:
Improve education in Health Sciences through the identification, standardization and application of best practices.
Strengthen efforts to promote patient and health personnel safety through the use of different simulation modalities.
Obtain external validation of the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the ECSCS.
Strengthen the confidence of the organizations, the community and the health science education professionals in the quality of the educational activities carried out by the ECSCS.
The ECSCS will be able to rely on evidence to obtain support and resources.
Strengthen the impact of education in clinical practice.
Encourage the improvement of the performance and the expansion of the knowledge of the ECSCS.
Simulation programs staffed by certified simulation professionals receive competitive advantage, program offerings, and grant funding
Acknowledge simulation expertise beyond domain expertise.
SOMESICS welcomes the participation of all its members and simulation partner programs around the world involved in this process.
Creation and development
One of the objectives of SOMESICS is to promote and encourage training and improvement of teaching staff, dedicated to education and teaching of health sciences.
During the end of 2018 and the first half of 2019, this certification process for simulation educators has been developed.
This will be possible by the participation of all our members with extensive experience in a wide variety of contexts simulation in health sciences.
A review of the most demanding certification standards for simulation educators used by the most prestigious international associations has been made.
Review and validation sessions will be held for these standards as well as for the standards proposed by the Mexican reviewers to define its compatibility with the practice of education using simulation in Mexico.
The SOMESICS standards for ECSCS will be the product of an expert consensus on standards for health sciences educators using simulation as a teaching and assessment tool.
The standards will be divided into basic standards (minimum requirements) and quality improvement standards.
The standards are intended to guide the development and evaluation of professionals in health sciences education.
The standards provide a framework to be customized for the local context.
The standards do not offer a universal core curriculum .
The standards are not prescriptive .
A great effort will be made to make the ECSCS standards relevant and applicable in all the work contexts of CS educators who use simulation in Mexico.
